Undergraduate Curatorial Internship

Kluge-Ruhe | Spring 2018

DESCRIPTION The Curatorial Intern will work closely with the Curator and the Education and Program Manager to develop an exhibition for the museum’s lobby space that introduces museum visitors to the diversity, sophistication, and contemporaneity of Indigenous Australian people, art, and culture. This will entail meetings to discuss the direction and learning goals for the exhibition, conducting research, communicating with artists, art centers and copyright holders in Australia, and working with a vendor to design and produce the exhibition’s panels.

The position requires 150 hours of work over the Spring 2018 semester, approximately 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. Intern will receive a stipend of $2600 (in two installments, February & May.) Position begins Feb. 5, 2018.

ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be current UVA undergraduates with a specific interest in working with Australian Aboriginal art.  Students enrolled in the University Museums Internship course are ineligible.
